I eat a lot, it’s a satisfying work hazard. I am closing on 200 venues for the year. RAW BAR? at Bondi Beach is the leader of the 2017 pack. I would consider moving to Bondi just to be closer to this Japanese marvel. That Cod dish stole my heart and the best eggplant dish of the year.

This little Japanese place is located in a perfect Bondi position and is well known for its delicious sushi and sashimi. My brother and I dropped in here for lunch on a sundrenched day and were looking for something light and refreshing to eat after some much needed beach time. We opted for the Raw Bar Salad, which was fresh and extremely tasty with an amazing combination of greens, avocado, pickled veggies and a tangy Japanese dressing. This bowl was huge and easy enough to enjoy as a lunch bowl by itself. At $17.50, it is not cheap but is of a high quality. We coupled this with their spicy tuna rolls. A very relaxed vibe, with attentive staff and good food - a really good combination albeit not cheap
Definitely one of the best sushi and Japanese places in this city, plonked in lovely North Bondi so you can't go wrong. The fish is so fresh you would think they caught it right there at Bondi ! Great sashimi, great hot dishes and amazing wagyu beef, incredible ! Good sake and beer and some pretty fine wines too. Always a good night out.
Just about every time you walk past this place it is packed out with cool Bondi locals. With seating inside in a small dining room with ocean views, or outside a touch lower at street level, most tables will provide you with a good vantage point of the beach. The quality of the sushi answers the question as to why it is so busy. The sashimi is among the freshest I have tasted, and the wasabi sauce provides the extra flavour. I recommend the inside out rolls and the Gyozo dumplings, they were to die for. Another favourable part of our experience I found was the service. The waitress was very attentive to our needs and was also very helpful in deciding what to choose. The restaurant is not BYO, but they have a great selection of wines to choose from to wash down the flavour.
