Red Apple Early Learning
Childcare centreRed Apple is a small family-friendly early learning centre. We commenced operations in February 2009 with Red Apple Vermont then we opened Red Apple Balwyn North a year later in February 2010.
Both Red Apple centres run in accordance with the National Quality Framework with a focus on developing strong self-esteem, resilience and learning capacity. We offer both child care and a funded kindergarten program.
Red Apple is open to children from three months to school age. We pride ourselves in providing an educational program where children learn through play, in close collaboration with families and the local community.
We embrace all cultures and enjoy learning about our different families. We believe this is important for children to develop their sense of identity and belonging.
At Red Apple, we are proud of our family-like culture. We never use an agency person to fill educator roles. In case of last-minute changes, we always use existing Red Apple staff the children are familiar with.
Over the years, we've seen that what sets us apart is our well-settled children, high staff retention, and connection with the ...read more

I have had a child at Red Apple for the last 7 years and in that time I have been so happy. Both my girls have thrived and learnt so much. The careers treat the children with kindness and love, more like a family environment than a Childcare centre. The kinder teacher Jenny, is great and really knows her stuff. The food served to the children is also excellent and my daughters eat things at Red Apple that they won't eat at home! Before I found Red apple I had my oldest son in a different Childcare centre that was big and too impersonal, Different staff all the time, no continuity for the children. Red apple is not like that, you can see the staff enjoy working there and there is minimal staff turnover, usually only for them to go off and have there own babies. I would definitely recommend it.
I called this centre late 2010 and was told that there was a vacancy. I mentioned the days needed and got an okay and was asked to come to see the centre and meet the carer. I carried my girl, she hid her face on my shoulder and everybody was very nice, I was showed the playground, introduced to the carer, shown the facility, and told that I needed to attend an orientation then we could start care. I told the director that she could see from one eye only (she looked pretty but she had vision impairment). My girl looked up from hiding her face, and everybody could see that she had one smaller eye, and her seeing eye was not too normal looking either (but she is very brainy, she mastered all letters, shapes, color and she had photographic memory etc by the age of 13 months when others her age could barely talk!). Upon leaving the centre, a little girl tried to approach her and her mother looked at my girl, and grabbed her girl asked her to stay away from my girl. The ...read more
Wow you are one angry person. I have looked into Red Apple myself for vacancy and saw your scathing review on Red Apples own website as well. Perhaps you are remembering things incorrectly as l have been enrolled there for a while now and am extremely happy with the care my child receives. As Nicole 250 states, the food menu is accomodating to allergy sufferers and very nutritious and healthy, room staff are well trained and very caring and the same staff every day is a pleasure to see as plenty of other centres have a continuing turn over of staff making for unsettling times for the children. I hope your daughter is now settled elsewhere but you need to move on.
Apparently perhaps a good child care centre for "normal children" but not for those with minor or major disability as according to the director, they don't have anybody there who could handle a child with disability/disabilities and asking for government support (that is actually a program set by government to help childcare centre in providing extra fund and money if they have a child with disability at their centre) they are currently will not try to pursue. It is an insult to say that, as it is disgracing their own educators as the educators have to pass several chapters in their study in "Handling Children with Disabilities and How to ask for Inclusion Support Program. If the director said "There is nobody here who could handle a child with disability" She really has to resend her educators for more training, and perhaps redo the certificate III or the diploma as they won't get those degrees if they are not perceived as "capable not only in writing or on paper but in practice"
It's not "what the program offers" that matter, it is "what practiced in reality" that matters. If I have to pay anything above $70, I expect the educators should be able to "handle all sort of children" if they can do that, then they are good enough to handle my child, otherwise not. If I have to spend my money, I will have high standart and high expectation for the services in exchange of the amount spent" as money is not growing out of tree to be given to strangers just like that.
