Republica is a busy, happening place on St kilda Beach that is absolutely packed in summer! We went on a very hot day and the vibe was incredible. The food is quite good and very reasonable considering the location. Staff is great, able to juggle the huge crowds inside and out.
Fantastic location on the waterfront at the St Kilda Sea Baths with views of the beach and the bay and of course plenty of people watching. Option to sit inside or outside and plenty of seating available. We sat inside for a Sunday breakfast and the music was just that little bit too loud I thought for that time of day. Not too many people there at 10am so service was quick although it could have been a bit more friendly. The breakfast menu was ok but I would have hoped for a bit more variety or some more interesting choices. I had the french toast with maple syrup and fig icecream and it was delicious but it wasn't enough to fill me up so I also shared some fruit toast which was amazing. The coffee was just average. Prices reasonable considering the location.
On a summers night this place is where you need to be. I love the buzz and the vibe, they do need to bring back the Latino nights they had on Sunday afternoons as this was the highlight of my summer days. Great drinks, some Latino music and everybody enjoying the band dancing the salsa. It's a fun social and vibrant venue.
Republica has been completely rebuilt after the disastrous fire that destroyed it last summer. It has lost none of its verve and was absolutely packed. Live music on Sunday nights together with a roaring fire-place make this place a must-visit for drinks or dinner. My only gripe is the noise was unbelievable which made us leave earlier than we might have.
This is one of my favourite Sunday afternoon spots. Good atmosphere and live music make it a great place to spend a few hours relaxing. The menu could do with a few more cheap snack options for those who dont want a main meal (which are on the pricey side). But with plenty of drink options, and the choice of a great beer garden or sea views, you cant go wrong.
