I have visited the Rhino Room many times and always had a fantastic night. The staff are friendly and Mick the owner is adorable, so easy going and really prides himself on customer service.
I held a surprise 40tth birthday party for my husband at Rhino Room and we had an amazing night. Mick was happy to move furniture around for me and ensure he had ample stock of relevant drinks for guests party. He personally greeted many of our friends and spoke to me throughout the night to ensure everything was going well and we were happy with everything. Amazing service and wonderful venue, can highly recommend it :))))))
Rhino Room is the local comedy club. New York style open mic on Monday nights, new material night on Thursdays and a showcase every Friday night. A New York style open mic basically means that you get stage time if you can manage to convince three friends to come along with you, first to arrive gets to be first on stage and so on. New material night is for the new comics to practice and for the experienced comics to test new material. You need to have a fairly open mind when attending one of the open mic / amateur nights, sometimes it can be good and sometimes not so much. It really goes off during the Adelaide Fringe with the best of local talent, interstate and overseas acts taking over. The annual Raw Comedy competition is also something worth watching because it usually brings in new talent and draws out a massive crowd.
The best stand-up comic venue in Adelaide!
This two storey standout purple building on Frome St in the city hosts the biggest names in comedy all year round, including Wil Anderson, Sam Simmons and Justin Hamilton. Alongside these headliners, expect lots of laughs from RAW local talents, like Mark Trenwith and Moataz Hamde.
LOL Lots Of Laughs!
The annual Raw Comedy competition is always worth checking out because it brings in new talent and usually draws a fairly big crowd.
Now over ten years old, this great little club has been a key player in fostering local talent across the local comedy, electronic music and hip hop scenes. With a flexible main room accommodating regular doses of the aforementioned, the club also has a downstairs bar which opens for special events and private parties. Separating the upstairs bar from the main entertainment room is especially good for stand-up comedy, and keeps the bar-noise out of the performer's and audience's ears. Adelaide would be lost without this place.... I've spent many memorable nights there. It can be something of a sweatbox when it's packed out in Summer though, due to its low ceiling and struggling a/c- my only complaint!
