On Sunday 17th July 2016 my family and I were driving back to Sydney on the last day of a 4-day country drive to Parkes,Dubbo and Coonabarabran. My car's engine was playing up and I misjudged the amount of fuel we need to get from Mudgee to Lithgow- about 130km. We didn't fill up in Mudgee and I soon realised we didn't have enough petrol to get to Lithhgow so about half way we started looking for a service station open on a Sunday afternoon. We found nothing, but just had to keep on driving. I knew the small village of Capertee was up ahead but had no idea if they would have fuel. We saw 2 new signs for Fuel and Food at 27km and finally 7km out of Capertee. Luckily we drove into the Capertee Roadhouse and cafe with only 2.6 L of fuel left in the tank. I bought $93 worth of fuel and some nice hot tea. Thankyou very much to the owners of the roadhouse- you saved us!
