Attending a wedding was a perfect first time experience for me at Roberts. The outdoor area was second to none, the most perfectly romantic setting for vows to be shared with plump vines and gorgeous gardens surrounding, not to mention a little white chappel in the background. The food was just sensational, a divine entree of baked fig and prosciutto!! Delicious!!! It was also a great venue in terms of the room - the band and dance floor was set up in a marquee adjancent to the dining room, which meant those who wanted to party on could and those who wanted a nice quiet chat got to stay in the dining room.
My wife and I dine at Robert's every time we go to Hunter Valley. I must admit over the last few years, we could not help, but to feel a sence of deterioration in this place. The food was good but nothing to brag about. The menu choices and sofistication were not the same as in the past. The service was good with the upper class sofistication, but something like a friendly smile was missing. The only think which did not deteriorate was the price - as expencive as ever
I have been a regular diner at Roberts over the past 15 years and it continues to delight. The dinners have usually accompanied a stay at Peppers Convent (highly recommended) and both places are Hunter Valley icons. The food, service and atmosphere all contribute to a brilliant and memorable experience.
