After being advised by The Family Violence Service in Rockingham to seek further advice at the Rockingham Police Station (in regards to a pending VRO I was considering putting in place against an ex-partner for, stalking, cyber stalking and harassment), I made my way there. Upon my arrival, I was confronted by an extremely rude, abrupt and abrasive Public Service Officer (A large woman in her mid - 5o's with blondish greying hair), who not only scoffed when I explained my situation, but considered it her place to give me advice. The problem here is it was the WRONG ADVICE! In a very stern voice, she told me I had no grounds for a VRO, but I could however request a "Misconduct Order" and that indeed, that was "all this is!” As I had previously been in a relationship with the person in question, I had already been told by both the courthouse and the Staff at Family Violence that a "Misconduct Order" was NOT AN OPTION and that I did indeed require a ...read more
