Went back to Rockpool today and was dissapointed that I could not enjoy my meat as it was extremely chewy (cooked medium rare) Would only ever go back to this place if they put the mac and cheese as a main dish and served unlimied bread and butter as the meat this time did not cut it, especially with the price attached.
Booked Rockpool dinner on a Sunday night for a birthday as a place of choice. Rocked up 10 mins before the booked and was told that there was no booking under my name in the system. Was disappointed in the fact that there was even a confirmation. We were forced to take a seat at the bar whilst they sort something out for us. Fortunately, we were seated in 30 mins. Service and food came quicker than anticipated. We had started off with 6 entrees: wagyu sausage, sashimi and prawns. The wagyu sausage was a stand out for me and different. Great balance in flavour and portion. We also orders the wagyu steak and rib eye along with pasta to share alongside their popular mocktails.
The mocktails of passion fruit and melon was refreshing and definitely a crowd favour. However, when they took away the plates the waiter took away our half finished drink before she had asked if I was done with it.
Overall, good service and great food for a special occasion.
I've dined at a number of rockpool restaurants and the melbourne installation fits the mould of the franchise. Well cooked but expensive meat, and an overpriced wine list to match. The setting is nice, and is a good option if you're hitting the casino, but I think value for money isn't really there.
