Roll'd Vietnamese Street Food

great concept for this franchise group, to open up quick bite size food in food court areas and in prime locations across high traffic area. I've eaten their pho soup before, not bad but like always I do prefer the soup that you would get in the large bowls in areas like footscray, richmond. I recently tried their rice paper rolls and bao the other day. Huge disappointment, the rolls were heavily filled with vermicelli and small piece of prawn wrapped inside. The same with the barramundi rolls, filled with strips of veggies and hardly any fish. The bao was interesting, lots of veggie and small piece of meat. Expensive for what they were offering. Definietly vietnamese food customized to western taste and moderizied to appeal to a particular market, not your everyday dining if you've eating extensively at vietnamese restaurants and travel to the country.

Vietnamese rice paper rolls seems to be like a booming choice of business recently. I only ever have this as a home made dish or if ever in Vietnam. Would never think this would sell outside of Footscray or Richmond being the vietnamese areas but i must say a lot of westerners do enjoy this dish and it is quite popular and well known. Roll'd Vietnamese Street Food at Highpoint shopping centre does really well. I thought to try one to actually see what the fuss is all about, although nothing beats my mums home made version but it was ok. I wouldn't say they nailed it but to cater for a fast food chain on quick rush hour demand and to also cater for westerners, it think they got the elements all correct. If at home you roll as you eat but watching the workers prepare like 10 at a time and adding all the elements and quickly roll them to the size to look evenly is quite impressive.
