Rose of Australia Hotel
1 Swanson St
Erskineville, NSW, 2043
Well, this is one of those railway pubs that Sydney seems to have a multitude of whereas Melbourne seems to completely lack. It is also one of the many pubs in Newtown, and being located next to a station is particularly handy. It does get pretty crowded at times, but then again I tend to come to expect things like that from Newtown, but they do have some decent craft beers on tap which is a bonus for me. Still, it isn’t one of my favorites, though I generally don’t object to coming in here.
Howard’s Cantina and Cocktail Bar is located above the Rose of Australia Hotel. Historically, this iconic venue in Erskenville has been there almost as long as the town itself – 1874! Since then it has been a popular venue amongst Sydneysiders to visit for a drink or bite to eat. It has undergone a number of renovations including the newest venture – Howard’s Cantina and Cocktail Bar. The Cantina itself is in keeping with the eclectic style of the area. The new cocktail drink menu has launched and there’s some amazing food dishes!
Great venue! The atmosphere is always great, with tables outside as well as a courtyard out the back. There is an interesting drinks menu with a selection of ciders, cocktails, alcoholic ginger beers and local beers. I have no eaten here but it is definetly on the list to try their menu!
Great drinks venue with different versatile spaces both indoors and out for any kind of meet or night out. All the usual gaming and sports screening and as a member you are priivy to special promotions, events and discounts. My local!!! Xxx
The newly renovated upstairs space, Howard's has a great menu by Head Chef Chris Bell showcasing great local produce into culinary works of art that are beautifully complimented with high tea and a satisfying cocktail selection!
Having had the ribs here twice now, it's one of the standouts on the strip.
