Located directly opposite Central Railway station, the Royal Exhibition Hotel has a combination of bar, grill and accommodation. The welcoming and relaxing ambiance creates an environment for any patron, either a local or a by passer. The food in the bistro is decently priced, and there is a wide range of options available. There is a beer garden, lounge and cocktail bar, each with different drink options to satisfy your every need.

I have to say that I'm in two minds about this place. It does have a really cool beer garden (as well as a rooftop deck which I have not had the fortune of checking out) however it doesn't feel like one of those cool and trendy pubs that you tend to find in and around Surry Hills. It is sort of one of those pubs where I would prefer to sit out in the back in the garden than spend too much time around the front bar, especially since it seems to just attract those older people that spend quite a bit of time in the bar. Still, I do like the place, and would come again because, unlike a lot of other pubs that I've been to, this place does have a decent beer garden out that back that is even sheltered from the rain (namely because the deck is on the top). As for food all I can say is that I simply glanced over the menu and thought, yeah, not back prices, but since it was fairly late, and I wasn't hungry, I didn't bother looking much further.
The Royal Expo ain't so bad.
It's got a a really nice lay out - small inside area with a bar, televisions and gambling stuff BUT! There's a nice double story courtyard just beyond. It's all under cover so even in the rain, it's pretty nice. In the sun, the courtyard is straight chill - really really lovely.
