Royal Hotel

I'm going to have to give this place a lower mark than I originally intended, namely because the second time I came here there simply was nobody behind the bar, and despite waiting for five minutes and not being served, I went to the next bar, and the next. Upon finding a lack of people pouring beer I decided that I had spent enough time waiting and if I really wanted to wait for something it would be at a bus stop (which is what I ended up doing). Originally when I first came here I didn't mind the place, especially since it has this really cool fountain out the back in the beer garden, but I guess beer gardens in the end mean nothing is there is nobody around to serve you. Oh, and don't expect to find the trendy crowd down here either – this is basically one of those old person suburban pubs.

We are locals and drink here reasonably regulary, reason being there are no other pubs in close walking distance... This is the place to go if you like poor service, be hot in summer, clean your own table abd freeze in winter. Being short changed is not uncommon but most staff members are nice and helpful

They go out of their way to be rude to customers, then shortchanged me by $30 and gives me the line "I'll check the till at the end of the night". Avoid.

Royal is great for a sunday night drink with friends. A++

The Royal is a workers pub, with a great island public bar at the front, which I like to hover around in summer and winter, and a restaurant in the rear courtyard with space for smokers and diners to co-mingle. The restaurant seems to be just getting started but has potential with great location.



The last real pub in Bondi. Hands down.
