This drive is a windy one. You’ll go around corners, twists and turns that lead deep into the bush. Just when it feels like you’ve gone too far, the trees start to thin and rows of houses appear. Just 30km south of Sydney’s CBD, Bundeena is the small town surrounded by national park on one side and ocean on the other.
It’s also accessible by passenger ferry, so park the car in Cronulla to boat it. Fish and chips from the local chippery are best enjoyed on the wharf’s grassy shore. If you want to work up an appetite, there are bike trails, walking tracks and several beaches to explore before lunch.
Love coming here. So many places to explore. Beautiful bushwalks, stunning beaches. You can mix a small hike and then reward yourself with a swim. During the Summer it is best to arrive early as car parks fill up and you might have to walk quite a bit to get to the National Park from where you'll have the opportunity to park.
Probably one of the most beautiful national parks I've been to - and a very accessible drive between Wollongong & Sydney.
It could, however, do with a few more places to stop, get out & enjoy the forest (though the lookout over the water is simply breathtaking).
Great place for a romantic drive (if your beloved doesn't get car sick - it is a bit windy in parts).
