Royal Oak Hotel Richmond

There are quite a few good pubs in Richmond and a number of really bad ones. This place falls into the later category. Basically it is one of those Woolworths pubs which includes a bistro (members only, though you can sign in), a pokies room, and a sports bar. There is also a literal smokers cage out the back (which is what you tend to find in most places like this). Once again I've been here a couple of times, though I'm not sure why I came back after my first adventure down here (I was looking for a place to have a drink before I went and saw Skyfall in the cinema). Now that I've thrown a few thoughts down on this place I doubt I will ever return, especially with all the other great offerings in Richmond.

We went on a Friday night about 10pm and it was buzzing. Every room and both floors. I love that there are plenty of different areas you can find a space and all different styles of decorating. It's like a room for every mood. They had really cool lights that were made out of drums.

Brilliant food, good location, plenty parking in back street. Good specials on offer occassionaly. Avoid busy times ie. when Richmond footy club have a win.
