Have just visited Royal Randwick for Day 1 of the Championships as part of the Autumn Racing Carnival. It was a glorious day and boy didn't Royal Randwick put it on. The whole course set up was full of food, entertainment and activites that made it a great day out for anyone regardless of whether you were there for the races or not. While the crowd wasn't as big as previous years, the course did well to provide enough bathrooms, food stalls and betting facilities so that lines and long waits were rarely experienced.
Nomad's Thoughts: Royal Randwick is the gem of Sydney racing and since it's reconstruction, the facilities are some of the best you can experience anywhere in the country. During major carnivals like the Championships the atmosphere is fantastic and the race day experience sensational. Pick a glorious sunny day and head out to Royal Randwick and experience the best that Sydney has to offer during the races. Well worth a visit!

Also if you are meeting friends have a place and time organised prior to going as the phone networks get jammed and you can't get onto people. One thing Randwick is not good at on these days is pre-training of staff. You often have first timers on a super busy day working at the ...read more
