Ruby Red Flamingo

I returned after a fair period of time to see if RRF was as good as I remembered. It was. We had a drink in the bar while we were waiting and some grissini and olives. Mmmm - olives. Then our table was ready and we drooled our way through the menu and had some fairly serious negotiations about how much we could eat and what we could live without. We settled on the tonnato, breasola, saffron risotto with osso bucco and rabbit papardelle. Being a gnocchi fiend I did ask for the rabbit sauce to go on some gnocchi however, the kitchen was unable to accommodate this. Everything was generous and delicious. The mains especially - we savoured every mouthful of the risotto and rabbit. The staff were extremely friendly and professional and even though it was a crazy busy Saturday night we didn't have to wait long for anything.

I have not been to Ruby Red Flamingo's in a quite some time, but have always recommended it to family and friends to try it out. I still remember the first time I ate here and fell in love with the Turkey Ragu they had on the menu.. I still always go back to that time whenever I do give recommendations. This place is amazing for food and authentic Italian pasta. ;)

This place is AMAZING, if you want real authentic Italian food, this is the place to go.

My friend took me here for dinner one night and it was really enjoyable. With Ruby Red, they actually dont take bookings unless its a group booking, so just as well we got there early and were able to grab a table because it packs out really quickly when they are open (Wednesdays to Saturdays). We ordered two dishes and a side to share (they encourage share plates) The pasta was delicious and the veal scaloppini with side of roasted vegetables was very flavorsome. We were very pleased with our meals and service on the night. The venue is somewhat retro/funky with the mismatching plates and glasses but the area is quite tight to get around. The location is good, just off OConnell Street in the city. I would love to come back again sometime, just hope I can get a table without too long a wait or being turned away like the other week.

Glad I went! Great casual atmosphere with staff that are knowledgeable about the menu. The food was excellent. Can recommend the gnudi and eggplant pasta. The grilled prawns and squid were also good as was the semi freddo.
