The Sabbaba new cafe/restaurant in Newtown fits perfectly into the suburbs culture and art style with a Middle Eastern food offering. The fantastic interior has been decked out with graffiti along with meanings of their menu scribed onto the walls. You feel like you've walked into another world.
Now, the most important bit, the food. I'll call myself a bit of a foodie, (my badge may call me a barfly, but meh!) The food was great, fresh and totally tantalizing. The falafels with hummus were awesome along with the pita pockets. Yum!
While you're there try out the Baklava, I nearly.... Well yeah, you get the idea. It tasted so good.
So make sure you've done your gym session before hand to make room for the deserts. Enough said.
Overall a great new cafe in Newtown for a few bev's and fantastic food with some friends.
What a great little spot! The walls in Sabbana Newtown are covered in graffiti art and although there literally are writings on the wall, the future of this new cafe certainly looks promising.
The staff are upbeat and friendly, and I met a lovely waiter with the biggest smile. I am told that the food is Isreali. Not being a huge fan of Middle Eastern food, I actually found myself developing a near addiction to their felafels with hummus. Also worthy of mention are their range of pita pockets, stuffed vine leaves and... BAKLAVA.
Food is priced very reasonably, so it makes for a great spot for lunch or a casual dinner. Great place to catch up with a few friends (and also to pick at their food).
