Sail & Anchor
An iconic local landmark and leader of the craft beer revolution in Fremantle. Our main attraction is quite simply, beer. We have 40 cold taps, 3 hand pumps and 4 bars. Our tap beer selection changes regularly between old classics, new favourites, small batch releases and seasonal styles.
I quite liked this pub, if only because it is one of those rare pubs where they have opened up the upstairs area, but that is probably for the smokers to be able to go out onto the balcony. Actually, I noticed this a few times in Perth, where the smokers would go out onto the balcony for their cigarretes (which had become the designated smoking area). The pub itself was reasonably quiet when I was here, but that is probably to be expected on a Monday night. Still, it had a nice charm about the place, and also have a good selection of beers on tap. It certainly does add a bit more of a flavour to the so called Cappucino Strip.
Choose your beers and ciders if you're after a tasting board. I loved that the descriptions were delivered with the board in a way that you could keep tabs on your likes... or dislikes... However you chose to drink.
Rugby on TV & AFL on the radio. The bar is an aged class of Fremantle that is nice for gentlemen to be boys or bro's.
I enjoyed this venue as a place to drink and chat. It wasn't packed and service was fast and helpful.
