Firstly, I travel regularly around Australia, Europe and South Africa for business. This experience ranks as one of my most awful (but amusing) dining experiences.
Truly shocking! Menu is bizarre (Indian, Thai, Italian, Australian, Mexican, seafood). One of the Moreton Bay Bug starters was raw - was sent back but they returned the same one! Main meals were awful: duck with rice, potato, and salad with balsamic vinegar; and butter chicken (AUD 33 - you can get this in any ...read more
This restaurant has lovely food, but the real reason to come here is the service which is second to none. This restaurant has the friendliest waiters, where nothing is too much trouble. In winter, dining next to the roaring fireplace makes for a truly comforting meal whether it be a special occassion, or for a family dinner out.
The service is friendly and the setting is pleasant, but we were underwhelmed by the quality of the food. Too much sauce smothering the main courses, the meat didn't taste fresh and the pear in the pear tart dessert was hard with undercooked pastry. Maybe we just got the chef on an off night! Also the timing was all wrong - the main meal came much too quickly, before we'd even finished the starter, but there was a long wait for dessert. The wine was good though, that made up for it..!
I Love this place! The owner is one of the most friendly people i have ever met! There is a lovely ambience here, whilst still having a relaxed and casual feel to it. There is a beautiful fireplace to keep you warm in the winter, and a lovely expansive garden for alfresco dining in the summer. The food is very good, I highly recommend the chicken, reef and beef, oysters, lambs brains, and for the meat lover - the tender trio!
