went there Saturday night and the Saturday before, on the 1st visit I had the seafood harvest, not good! over cooked and dry on the second visit (should've known better) a party of nine, two people got their food and had finished before the next six people got theirs one of which was cold but because of the length of time he waited for it to appear wasn't game to send it back to the kitchen, this was followed 10 minutes later by the ninth (all on the same order), I won't mention the over priced rubbish beer on offer which tasted like Grandads rough homebrew, won't be in a hurry to go back.
We went at the Thursday night special 3 course roast dinner at $ 17.95 . The place is clean, however the playground for the kids is very tired and does need more effort. Internally the ambience is quite pleasant and inviting . The entre consisted of a Thai style soup which was not bad but could have done with a bit of a kick to make it authentic . The rolls it was served with were freshly made , warm and excellent. The mains had your choice of meat , either roast lamb , pork or beef - two of which I sampled and they were well cooked and of decent quality. The self serve sides were well below standard with the baked potatoes being soft on the outside, no crispiness in sight here and the broccoli was either seriously undercooked or near mash ( I have no idea how they managed to do that in the same lot ..) All the other sides were very heavy in sauce , quite greasy and very bland. Some sort of a salad would have gone a long way ...read more
the food here is THE best! Seriously the bowl of hot chips we ordered impressed us. Wide cut fluffy inside perfectly crisped outside. never tasted better. We also ordered a heavily fresh topped large tandoori chicken pizza, main size buffalo wings both could've been spicier but eh flavoursome anyhow. Cost us under fifty bucks so reasonable for the quality! Regards to the chef. Waited about 15-20 mins enjoying drinks in peace watching our kids play in the playground from our table. Yep it's a pub so u collect your food when it's done. regards to the friendly staff. walking through the pub entrance was a bit alcohol stenched but reaching fresh garden like eating area is refreshing. Did I mention the peace of kids being in the playground and out of your hair? Good lunch stop after mount glorious tourist drive!
A huge disappointment.
Very expensive for bad quality food. Off for a Sunday drive with the kids, 5 & 6 yrs. Dropped in for lunch at the Samford Valley Hotel. Entering via the front the pub looks quite dated.
Service was slow & unfriendly. Only when we ordered were we told of the 1hr wait on food!!! Thankfully the hungry kids were distracted by the playground.
No table service so collect your own food. Two adult steak meals & two kids spag bol. Steaks, ordered Med Rare were both cooked well done. At $35 -40 per steak this was disgusting. Kids Spag Bol was water logged & more like a tomato sauce topping than a meaty dish.
Spent 15 minutes waiting for staff to come by to complain about quality of meals. Staff appeared unconcerned & annoyed at having to give some service.
We won't be back & I recommend others avoid such a overrated pub.
