Sanook Thai Restaurant

This restaurant used to be wonderful until the new management took over now it's HORRIBLE! We got about $100 worth of takeaway for my Birthday dinner. The dishes (massaman and green curry) looked like water and had about 2 inches of oil on the top not that we ate it. We called to complain and ask for money back as there was no way we where eating it. The staff working said there was nothing they could do as their management staff had gone home but they would get them to call as soon as they saw the management staff...No phone call, no apology, food in the bin, Birthday dinner ruined.

We just got home from Sanook Thai about 5 minutes ago and had to stop over at fast food on the way. One of the worst restaurant experiences we have had ever. Our family of 14 booked for a table at 7.30pm. We ordered as soon as we got in. The entrees came about 30 mins after. The mains came out 1.5 hours later.



The wait was long but we were hoping the food will be worth the wait. It was not. The prawns were raw and very smelly (not very fresh), our fried rice was bordering porridge.

The food was appalling. We paid and left without eating more than 10% of each dish.



I would never come back to this restaurant again. Would not recommend.

Massaman beef was watered down, 2 bits of potato, 7 small pieces of beef. Not a creamy sauce as I'm used to. Half the container was water. Used way too much fish sauce in sweet chili chicken. Awful, when I took it back I didn't want money back just a replacement. I was told I didn't know Thai food. Yeah we'll just drive to another restaurant from now on. No more business from us ever again.

Absolutely amazing food, especially the Saffron Rice! The staff were really friendly and attentive, we didn't have to search for a staff member for anything. The restaurant and amenities were really clean, and the atmosphere of the dining area was very comfortable. I'm looking forward to eating at one of their outdoor tables this coming summer. A must go place when visiting or residing in Port Stephens; as locals we will be returning.

Great service, atmoshphere is fantastic very authentic inside. The food is to die for, always busy which is a good sign. Would recommend to book if eating in. They do the best saffron rice.
