Agree with previous reviews, great organisation of attire but prices are becoming ridiculous at not just this Savers but all of them, recently was horrified to see a tag on a plain, fishnet top (no brand name, just literally a fishnet singlet) was $15.00! That said I have also had rare finds like a BNWT corset from the UK for $50.00 (tag said $80.00) so there are still reasons to pop your head in and look around from time to time.
Found the homewares section to be very disappointing and an absolute mess! Had to step over a broken bedhead that was just lying on the ground in the middle of then mens section and nearly tripped!
yes, there's a huge variety and things are sorted well. But the prices are ridiculous these days. I was in Savers Brunswick yesterday and saw dresses for $17.99 to $24.99 that had stains, or holes, or stinky underarms. The Collectibles section of knicknacks is an unbelievable ripoff, even for things that are chipped. Yes people want retro/vintage but sheesh, not in a rubbish condition! I have even found a used old tissue in a coat I bought. I highly doubt the clothing is laundered before sale. If you buy clothing, SNIFF THE UNDERARMS FIRST. I had to put back a Leona Edmiston dress because it stank so bad (and it was tagged at $24.99!)
you might get cheaper op shops, or those with better finds, but for sheer size, offerings & organisation, savers takes the cake. All clothes are arranged into male/female/children, then into type (eg jackets, jeans, t-shirts) & then into sizes. Usually op shops have mens on one side, ladies on the other & thats it. Savers brings order to an otherwise orderless world - and for that savers...I salute you!
Savers has gone up in a price a lot recently. However, it is still a great place to go for bargains on good clothing and other goods. Gone are the days when one could buy a whole lot of clothing for next to nothing and hopefully earn a truly good piece or two in the process. Now when you go shopping here, you have to be more careful in what you buy on the moment - for a few items at $6 each certainly add up. Be wary of the charity side of this company too, since they are actually a business but might at times seem as though they're a not for profit organisation.
