Scary Canary

I think this is a great place for people my age (18-24) as it's always lively on the student nights. On Wednesdays you get a free drink on entry which is always good incentive. The set back is that the queue can be really long and move really slow as it's so popular. I quite like their scary jars and the music is definitely on point here. Their Facebook page will let you know of the weekly events they hold, so you can plan when to go with friends.

If there is one thing that I really like about this place and that is it's name, but then again this bar is pretty cool despite its name. I've been here a couple of times and I have quite liked its atmosphere. Okay, it is mainly full of backpackers, but that doesn't seem to detract from the charm of this place. Another thing that I like is that the bouncers are pretty cool. In fact, unlike a lot of places in Sydney, I have never felt all that intimidated by them, and they don't seem to have the power trip that many of those at other pubs seem to have. They did have a wet T-shirt competition on Wednesday nights, but I think that has now long gone. While a part of me has always wanted to see such a competition, I don't think I have missed out on all that much.

Best bar in Sydney! The music played are all the classics and none of that techno stuff. There is nothing better than the scary jars. Just wish it hadn't gone so mainstream over the last couple of years. Now it's too hard to get into my favourite bar.

Getting scary at the canary is as good as it gets! They are always playing epic music and the place is always packed. Best nights to go are on WET wednesdays and Scary Saturdays.
