We wound up here after taking an interstate visitor for a scenic drive through the hills. Had a lovely lunch on the back verandah, looking out to the hillside in the sunshine. Not a bad menu, some interesting wines on the list, good specials, quite a gorgeous location, and plenty of other people seemed to be coming to enjoy the hospitality here too. It doesn't stick to pub hours either, which was great as we didn't arrive till well after 2.
I regret to inform that this was an extremely disspointing experience. We took a friend from SYD for a Saturday lunch here recently - sight unseen but we had heard OK things about it. The view of the city - although a little obstructed by trees now - is pretty good. The service - at least on the day we visited - was dreadful. A rude waitress who obviously was not enjoying her day. My meal was only OK - I had ordered a main but it arrived in a small bowl. When I questioned this on payment I received a rather curt reply that it was a main size. My companions' meals were terrible - an overcooked block of risotto ball which tasted like burnt oil - subsequently left uneaten. And a "grilled" chicken salad more akin to "broiled rooster" - also left. On ordering a request was made to not have x ingredient added - when this was questioned on payment, Ms. Grumpy went out of her way to tell the cashier and ourselves we were wrong. Extremely disappointing all round.
