I have been to Julie (and Sue) at Second Obsession in Malvern many times. In fact, it is pretty much an obsession with me!
Whenever I need help finding just the right outfit for an occasion Julie and/or Sue bring me many garments to try on (some I wouldn’t even have considered but which often look far better on than on the hanger). I feel they are always honest in their opinion of how a garment looks on me. (We all know, even if only deepdown, if something doesn't look good and can feel tricked and not return to a store when a sales person is disingenuous. I always use that as a marker as to whether to return).
In my opinion; Julie is doing everything right! (Plus a great winebar has opened up next door! Definitely worth a visit to Second Obsession and Malvern)
Owner is very friendly but also sneaky! Had a wonderful experience (I thought) until I got home (NSW...I was on holiday in Melbourne) so I couldn't return the sheer embroidered silk blouse that had a few holes in it and had been mended in 2 places already! Very sneaky! The owner was most helpful and just kept on bringing me more goods to try on. Quite sure she was aware of the faults. Feel rather railroaded now.
Hi merleo: Julie receives dozens of new, as new and pre-loved pieces per week: clothes, jewellery, handbags, and many accessories, to decide if she wants to take them on consignment. Whilst she does as thorough a check as possible, she must rely on the 'owner' as to whether the garment really has been dry-cleaned and is in perfect condition (a requirement for selling through Second Obsession). I would say she does her best to check meticulously.
If you still have your embroidered silk blouse, you should return it to Julie for a full refund - I'm sure she would much rather a happy, repeat customer. (Also, it gives her the opportunity to review her books and ensure she doesn't take goods [faulty or not] from that particular re-seller again). I would say this is a one off, as it is not in the best interest of Second Obsession to sell damaged items and Julie has been in business for a very long time.
