The pub itself is very charming, especially the decor. However, as far as food goes - quality was lacking. The has some variety, which is great, but it's quite small. Every item in the menu is very expensive. And so I was expecting very good quality food. Unfortunately I was disappointed. The huge price did not match the standards of the meals.
The service was beyond quirky and bordering on rude.
We visited this very nice place on a busy day, we heard it gets very busy so we decided to book a table. lucky we did as there was a lot of people and we decided to get our food and lined up for an hour to order and that wasn't really the bother it was waiting 3 and a half ours for our food and when we questioned the wait we were told half and hour, we were told this 3 times when we asked the last time and they said it again we decided to leave and get our money back. Some of the staff made comments like it was no big deal that we were waiting that long like it happens all the time. THIS IS NOT EXEPTIBUL on any time or day. If your staff can not handle the number of customers then don't book that many or at least giving warning to the length we will be waiting so we can decide if we want to stay. I will not be going back.
As far as country pubs goes, the Settlers Arms Inn delivers what you want. Reasonably priced drinks and good pub grub. There is a great outdoors area too, which is nice in the warmer months. This can get busy on the weekend with people going on day roadtrips. Worth a visit
A really great place to get away from the busy city life - the hotel is fantastic, kept in great condition by the owners. The pictures, furniture and ornaments all look like you have just ridden up on your horse and cart. The rooms are very well presented, clean and spacious rooms and comfortable beds. The food from the pub is great and though maybe a little on the slow side it was very tasty. I would highly recommend this for a night away.
