Shanghai Palace Restaurant
The spacious Shanghai Palace can seat more than 120 people and at night and on weekends is often crowded so bookings are advisable. The entree selection includes stuffed crabs claws, steamed dim sims and spring rolls while main courses include a seafood combination hot pot with bean curd, salt and pepper chicken and Szechuan beef. Each dish had its own subtle flavour with no hint of corn flour or too much oil. The hot pot, a signature dish, comes with plump prawns and scallops and is outstanding. The service is unobtrusive but our waiter was knowledgeable and attentive and not backward in making recommendations. The Shanghai Palace is very much a family affair which no doubt contributes to the attention to detail apparent in the simple but tasteful decor.

This place is a total 1970's time warp, I remember going there with workmates 30 years ago, nothing has changed! That's not a bad thing, the dishes are good size, the prices quite reasonable and the food of better than average quality. If you are pining for that '70's cocktail favorite 'Golden Dream' to sip on while you crunch into fortune cookies give it a go.
Had to come here for a birthday dinner and it was a banquet menu. The service was better than last but quite slow on the food. The food was good, nice but not wow, and it was a much food so was good value for money. Really enjoyed the pork ribs, they were pretty good.
It was my first time coming here and came here for a lunch meeting. I clearly remember the service was slow, we arrived there around 1pm but didn't get out til 330pm. We had a table of 7 and the restaurant wasn't busy, another table or two was occupied. The waiting time for the food was too long for my liking and the food was average as well, I've had better Chinese food elsewhere.
