Shango Cafe

This place is perfect for families with young kids - outside courtyard has a fabulous sand pit for kids to use! The owner here is a lovely friendly welcoming host. You would never know this place was here/drive right past as its location is tucked away in service road of Waverley Rd (it is near the beginning of Waverley Rd where it starts off Dandenong Rd, diagnonally opposite the pub that is opp Monash Uni Caulfield). Needs more signage out front to be more obvious. The menu is small (savoury meals include foccacias, 4-5 egg dishes, salads, breakfast meals such as museli, etc) and drinks include coffees, smoothies, etc (the coffees are pretty good). I chose "eggs avo" (2 poached eggs on english breakfast muffins with avacado & spinach with side serving of hollandaise sauce) $12.50 which was tasty and reasonably priced for its size. $4 for an iced coffee was very reasonable too. Great coffee and service and marvelous muffins and focaccias .. pity its not open a bit later.
