A few friends and I already had dinner earlier that night somewhere, then we went to meet up some other friends for dessert down the road from Shankers.. the others we met up with hadn't had dinner yet, so we decided after Dessert we'd go there for a bit to peck and chat some more. The ambiance was great, we were placed outside on the balcony eating and the weather was perfect. We decided to order a few entrees, but we could not resist in having the best butter chicken in Adelaide accompanied with naan bread for dipping.. so we ordered two of them as well.
The owner and his staff were very attentive and friendly, as always. Definitely will come back here again and again, and would recommend it to anyone looking for that Delicious Indian Feast.
See, its that good that even a bunch of us girls full from Dinner & Dessert already, could not resist!! Keep up the great work Shanker!
I went to this place when it was on Main North Road 10 years and was not impressed.
After hearing it had won an award I thought I'd give it another go.
From the unbearable smell of the incense when you walk in to the friendly staff my lunch got worse.
The glass of wine I ordered was so oxidised I still have the terrible taste in my mouth as I write this. But rather than opening a new bottle of wine for me they gave me a less stale glass of wine out of another over half empty bottle.
My Full price Lamb Madras not the lunch special, tasted like a packet mix from the Spice Kitchen at Kensington
Sadly the highlight was leaving the place which I shall go to again
Mate if you don't know hospitality and you can't respect hospitality don't go to to any Restaurent or cafe, just go to takeaway shop to buy food, if u don't know hospitality even u go to 5 star hotel you will complain about that, so next time go takeaway shop and buy one bottel of wine from celler not by glass which will not oxidize. I am customer there for more than 10 years it's awesome and I always recommend people to go once, that's why they won National award so I can I complain, and mate do not expect much because people are here to do business. This is absolute disgusting, how can you expect an entree size meal as main course and a glass of wine to taste like a new bottle, obisously it will be different........
My family and I went as it was recommended from some friends, we had never had Indian Food before at this point. The staff were extremely helpful and took the time to walk us through the menu and even made some recommendations for stuff for us to try (they even brought us out some free food to try). Not only were they warm and friendly they also made sure we had a fantastic time and made it feel like we were in their home not their restaurant! The food was amazing and tasted divine although like I said we have never eaten Indian Food before but from what I ate I will not be eating my Indian Food anywhere else.
