Shingle Inn City Hall

Established 1936

Shingle Inn City Hall is the reincarnation of Brisbane's oldest and most-loved cafe. Originally opened in 1936 on Edward Street, Shingle Inn was well known for its superior quality cakes, unique environment and outstanding service.

Now within one of Brisbaneâ??s most recognised buildings, Shingle Inn continues its tradition as a location that can reach across the generational divide, making it the ideal location for special occasions and memorable outings.

Enjoy breakfast, lunch, coffee & cake within the intimate booths or join Shingle Inn City Hall's decadent Afternoon (High) Tea daily at 2.30pm and also at 11.30am on Saturday and Sunday.

Visualised by its creator, WR Webster, as an English teahouse Shingle Inn is proud to celebrate some of England's time honoured traditions such as Wimbledon's strawberries & cream. Definitely a nust do in Brisbane city...beautiful setting and tiny tables but it's just such a cost spot to get a good cup of tea and a scone...I love it, somewhere to pass away an hour with a cuppa, slice and book.

Even though the fit out is the same this Single Inn doesn't really possess the ambiance of the original. Seats seem to be squashed in and harder than ever for dining for any length. The food seemed the same however the scones didn't feel or taste like they'd been made today. Service was a bit hit and miss.

Finally got to visit during Open House Brisbane and it's a lovely and quaint little cafe.

Loved the pot of milk coffee and the bacci cake.

Great spot for high tea with the girls - bring back the classic girls day out.

Lovely little spot for a quick bite, child friendly. Fast service, reasonable value. Not the cheapest around but happy to pay for the ambiance of the place and service.

A quiet cafe with the best cakes and pastries. Also had a lunch here and it was served quickly and was fresh and yummy! The chai lattes are great here too!
