I had a great trip today. Friendly and talkative driver who was able to get me home without me having to direct him or show him the most direct route. The car was clean and seemed well-maintainted. Silver Top's service really seems to have improved and I appreciate that you don't have to pay surging fares like you do with Uber.
I had a great experience with silver top taxi s today. I left my laptop in the taxi when we were dropped at Tullamarine airport. After about 10 minutes I realised my stupidity and rang the taxi company,spoke to a human and got the number for the driver. He ended running to give me my laptop so I could catch the plane on time- and I just made it. I am so grateful as it is a work laptop and I only just started my job! Hurrah for silver top taxis!
The trip started well a taxi from the airport but soon things started to decline. The route chosen by the driver had maximum tolls. The trip was late evening so traffic wasn't heavy. When I arrived at my destination the driver demanded cash. I said I'd pay by card and he pointed out he could see enough cash in my wallet. To avoid an altercation I used the cash to pay, the driver accepted less than the metered rate. My family members were disgusted and urged me to make a complaint. I can see from other reviewers that it's pointless. I'll be choosing another travel option next time.
Nice clean car. Driver was able to save a lot of time getting into the CBD in peak hour due to his knowledge of the streets.
I actually made it to the conference on time after thinking I would be late.
Great service most of the time. A couple of bad experiences over the years. I've also had bad experiences with Uber.
Silver Top Taxis - Absolutely disgusting
My last trip to the Melbourne airport recently was a horrible experience.
The Silver Top driver stunk to high heavens and he said he was only allowed to take me to the airport from Mount Waverley via the freeway which I never take. The driver also insisted I pay the toll fees. When I said no he threatened to turn around and take me back and also threatened that Silver Top Taxis will ban me in the future. This was the rudest taxi driver I have ever encountered. And trust me I have met quite a few rude drivers in filthy cabs. I reported him but Silver Top do not give a stuff.
