When Building a new home waterproofing the slab edge is a must to prevent moisture from penetrating the house causing a multitude of problems both to the house and the health of the inhabitants.
Persistent moisture penetrating the slab often results in associated efflorescence (also known as Concrete Cancer) which is visible as a white colored, powdery substance around the foundationâ??s exposed edge. Efflorescence is a sign that moisture is moving through the concrete carrying mineral-soluble salts to the surface. This water then evaporates leaving the white crystallised powder.
