Looks like the place has changed owners yet again, we went in for karaoke last night. Pumping it was not, even at about 9.30pm... What ever happened to the queer nights on Wednesday nights? I miss those...
They didn't do cocktails as nothing has been passed down to bar staff about this. So it was your basic drinks that were available.
Not much of a showing, small intimate crowd, my ears were bleeding by the time we left so I guess karaoke night was a success?
Not sure where it's going to go with the new management, will be interesting to see what they make of it.
The Sly - possibly still one of Newtown/Enmore's more infamous LGBT (and all letter's in between) bars. From the outside, it looks like your run-of-the-mill pub but on the inside... it still kind of us, however, The Sly may look tame, it may look quiet, quaint and questionable but never judge a book by its cover... and never judge The Sly until you've been kicked out of there at 4am.

This venue is better known as "the SLY" and is the locals local of choice- or at least used to be... The venue hosts many themed events on a regular basis such as, bingay on Tuesdays, lesbian night on Wednesdays and karaoke on Sundays. Once upon a time and not so long ago, the pool was free 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. However, the pub is now under new management and since their takeover, the pool is now free only occasionally. The pub cannot be described as a classy venue its really rather dingy- but I like it. The cocktails are decently priced and they do have half price cocktails before 9pm! The staff are pleasant enough but the toilets (particularly) the ladies are an aspect of the Sly that should be avoided like the plague. Now I have been visiting this venue for over 3 years and Ive got to confess over the entire period, the ladies toilet has been perhaps the worst aspect of this pub. For instance, sometimes there are no doors for privacy and ...read more
