Smith Pond Junction Railroad Plans
1/24th Scale Plans For Model RailroadsJust like building a real building except you use glue instead of nails. They share the strength of a real wood structure just as required by the full-size building code requires. A composite wood structure is very strong and stable. After all, we live in them! A real framed wall covered with siding for example shares the strength of multiple elements at opposing grain directions is a very strong composite, just as a miniature one would be built of the same (wood) material. It will share the same characteristics. Stick built buildings are easier to kit bash. Changes to window or door size to adjust scale or placement is easier. Buy extra lumber and add additions, porches, pantries etc. or combine to make larger structures. It gives you more flexibility and just because we call it a livery stable, doesn't mean you have to use it as that.
