An unlikely combination has set one Indian restaurant apart. A fluffy crepe wrapped around a rich lamb curry and oven-baked with a creamy cheese topping is a rich and unusual treat. Word soon spread of the robust tucker being served at the cafe and business flourished. Predominantly northern cuisine is served but the menu does feature some specialties from the south - a daily fish curry special and seven vegetarian dishes, cooked in separate pots from meat dishes. There is an excellent dhal, rustic potato and seasonal eggplant curries, and a spinach variation on the crepe entree. The kofta kari - big lamb mince meatballs in a spicy tomato yoghurt sauce - is another favourite. It's a delicately flavoured dish that should come with a big-serve alert.

Great selection of authentic, classic Indian cuisine goat durbari, lamb curry crepe and tandoori dishes. Freshly prepared not too spicy and not too bland. I went there tonight with a group of six. We each ordered a separate main to share with some rice and naan bread. Each dish was delicious. The service was good, no complaints but nothing really to write home about either. The atmosphere is nice, a bit chilly. The music playing in the background from what I remember was some Crowded House which was surprising because I was expecting some funky Indian music. The venue itself was not too loud which was great because we didnt have to struggle to hear each other talk. Conveniently located just five minutes from the city with bus stop access and plenty of parking. Take away and delivery service is also available and I hear that they sometimes have a belly dancer although being a Monday night we didnt get to experience that first hand.
This place is amazing, one that I stumbled across and I'm so glad I did. They are more expensive that some places but you get what you pay for and what you get is AUTHENTIC! The hot means HOT (don't tempt fate if you think you have hot at home....because my tongue was on fire and I have a pretty good chilli tolerance!). Needless to say, when I've been back, I've certainly steered away from the Vindaloo! Anyway - this place is awesome, the Sunday free for all is great (if you can get in). Don't bother going up the road, that's pretend...this is the real deal!
After a several years I went with a group on a Temptation voucher and was pleased to find that the food was as good as ever. Even though the menu choice was limited with the voucher all the dishes were tasty and well presented. The good thing about the voucher was that it included dessert (which I've never tried before) - yummo.
