Education and Care for children from birth to school ageOur private family owned and operated service provides high quality early education and care for children from birth to school age.
Our highly trained and experienced educators create an environment of warmth and quickly build a rapport with the children in their care. Our educators are passionate about their profession and always strive to provide exceptional learning opportunities for children. Put simply; we truly do LOVE what we do and get so much joy from working with young children and their families!
We work in partnerships with families to ensure the best possible outcomes for your child. We encourage you to be involved in our service (as much or as little as you wish). Our door is always open to families and you are welcome at our service any time. We encourage you to share any special skills or talents you have with the children, such as; baking a cake, reading a story, playing an instrument, speaking in another language, playing a sport, gardening, etc. We would love you to share this with us and your child will be so proud too! We also plan lots of family activities throughout the year such as discos, BBQ's, afternoon teas, etc so your family can join in with our centre life.
Our curriculum is flexible to meet the needs of each child. We design the environment to encourage exploration and discovery as well as to challenge your child and to support their continued learning. We aim to prepare children for school and so our Sharks and Dolphins rooms both follow the Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guidelines to ensure that we align with all facets of school readiness. All of our rooms also implement the Early Years Learning Framework within their curriculum. Our programs are inclusive and provide equitable access for all children, we value diversity and embrace each child as a unique individual.

Our children are thriving under the care of the educators at Southport Children's Educational Centre. They are happy and excited to go each day and when I pick them up after work I see smiling faces again. The educators utilise there large outdoor play areas and constantly create new settings using their resources. Today I saw a large play kitchen converted to a boat with sand for pirate day. Not only were there little pirates everywhere but all of the educators had dressed up too. Need I say more? My 3yr old loves her Japanese lessons and swimming lessons and my 15 month old has become a confident babbling toddler. We chose this centre above others because of the fun creative rooms, the large outdoor play spaces and the warm and welcoming staff. Pros: Short wait list to enrol or move classes. Provide food and nappies. Great programs. Great communication eg, flyers, signs, verbal handover
Cons: Very limited play equipment outside comprises of a few small plastic playsets and sandpits - no built in commercial equipment a like other centres. Many staff are rough handling children. Not enough food to go around, little portion each compare to what my kids could eat at home. Toilet training issues
Without these cons it would have been rated as five stars. My rating is based on my experience but at least three out of these four issues were raised by other families too, while get together.
My two daughters attend this centre. Absolutely AMAZING! Its such a great comfort knowing my girls are in such great care while I'm at work. Only have good things to say about this centre, my children and I love the staff, always so helpful and my children are learning so much from attending that childcare centre. HIGHLY RECOMMEND
I was so sad to have take my child out of this centre due to relocating. All the staff are wonderful, friendly, and really make an effort to know you and you children. My daughter was there from 4 months to 22 months and through each stage the centre was extremely accommodating, be it sleeping, toilet training, and eating, they worked with whatever was best for my child. Lots of communication between centre and parents with, notes home, pamphlets, and direct communication. I give this centre 10 out of 10.
Since leaving this centre I sent my child to another 2 before settling in to the one we are at now as there were not up to the standard of care I was used to receiving from The Southport Children's Education Centre!
The outside play equipment is old and worn. Children were coloring with markers that had hardly any ink and not enough paper to share around. Morning tea was potato chips and chocolate biscuits. Rough handling of children and very rushed toilet time. Staffs had an unpleasant grumpy tone when speaking to the children. Interior of the centre appears to be tidy and the director was very nice.
Hi Harrison F, I was very surprised to read your review of our service. We pride ourselves on offering a fantastic program with warm, nurturing, mature and qualified educators. Our educators are passionate about working with children and committed to providing a positive experience for the children in our care. We provide nutritious meals for the children which are cooked fresh daily for the children. Our meals do not consist of any processed foods such as chips or biscuits so perhaps the food you saw a child eating was something that they had brought from home or for a birthday. We value feedback at our service and are always reviewing our practices and updating our environment and equipment. We would therefore invite you to visit our service again as your observations described above definitely do not reflect typical practice at our service. The outside play is definitely less advance than every Childcare I have seen. It comprises of a few plastic portable slide and climb, sand pits and one built in swing. Staff are very rough with kids-pulling hands, wiping them clean in less than a second and not clean but very rough..not giving the time needed. Not enough food to go around. I can promise what I say is accurate as other parents say the same when catch up. If the centre can improve this it will become a five stars as floor is always clean and parents seem to be happy with learning program.
