Southside Smokehouse

Located at the foot of one of those architecturally bland Quest Apartment Hotels, the reasonably uninspiring shopfront opens up to a mostly undecorated, air-conditioned room surrounded by windows on two sides. While none of this seems to bode well for exciting food, what comes out of their kitchen is surprising! Arriving for a late lunch, we’re unable to order their smoked meats by the kilo (a treat reserved for dinner time guests) so we decide to make do with a shared Snack Box ($15). This menu special seems loosely based upon the halal snack packs which have gained popularity since Pauline Hanson refused Senator Sam Dastyari’s generous invitation to enjoy one together.
