Cool name - check. Tapas - check. Cocktail Happy Hour - check. Heading into Randwick for a quick dinner and this place grabbed our attention. The setting and decor is awesome and instantly eases you into the evening. We enjoyed a cocktail each and the mixed dip plate. At $12, due to happy hour 6 - 7pm, the cocktails were worth it - also if you like them on Facebook during Happy Hour they will extend your hour for another 30mins (7:30pm). We ended up grabbing the scallops, beef carpaccio and paella balls from the tapas menu. All the food tasted great, however, the plates were expensive for the portion size. This place will be a repeat to stop in for a cocktail and single plate when catching up with a friend for a drink or prior to heading to the movies.
For those of you who are familiar with Randwicks foodie destination 'The Spot', Spanish Fly serves up some tasty tapas in its moody interior. The kitchen is tiny - think about the size of a small broom cupboard - but boy do they produce some great dishes out of that tiny box.
Nomad's Thoughts: Great for a small group dinner or something more intimate, the Spanish Fly serves up tasty tapas, has a good wine selection and provides a thouroughly enjoyable atmosphere. Perfect for a summer evening to indulge in some wine and food. Will be back for sure.
This cute tapas bar is located in The Spot, perfect for a large group or a small intimate gathering. Be prepared to have an appetite though as the food is amazing and filling!! The staff are always willing to help and provide recommendations! Atmosphere is great, providing a relaxing setting for after work drinks. The menu is designed to be shared and works well as everything must be tried!!
I was there on Saturday 19 July for dinner. The staff was rude and this person was cutting me while I was talking, they were rushing around, they forgot our order and came back and asked me after 20 minutes! if we ordered! I complained to the Management staff about this person's behaviour and the management staff didn't pay attention because they were rushing around too! the worst dinner experience I have had in a very long time!
