Went to SpecSavers today to get a copy of my prescription so that I could send it to an online contacts lens shop. Found out that SpecSavers prescriptions only last 1 year, and so my prescription was "expired". This is contrary to online retailers' requirements for the prescription to last 2 years and to general recommendations that eyes be checked by an optometrist every 2 years (if one has no eye or medical conditions otherwise). They printed me out something that had very little details on it and didn't even have the business address or logo on it, and only the optician's initials. I was very disappointed and annoyed. The staff mentioned that the "1 year prescription" is what they use for their SpecSavers website. It seems very clear that as a business SpecSavers is trying to prevent customers from being able to source cheaper products elsewhere. I will not be using SpecSavers again.
