We had our annual Christmas party there last night. The food was Ok and was in plentiful quantity. The problem was at towards the end of the evening several of us wanted coffee and their coffee machine was shut down or not working or something. We ordered 2 of the specials: Massaman duck curry and soft shell crab with green mango salad. We were blown away! The food was incredible, so full of flavour, beautifully presented and quick! The restaurant itself was beautiful as well, furniture and walls are dark but there's just enough light that you don't feel like you're in a cave.
The staff were super efficient and friendly. Probably the best Thai we've ever had!
A schmick version of the awesome, casual Spice I Am on Wentworth avenue in Surry Hills, this place has so much more to offer and is seriously impressive. Sure, it's more expensive and there was a whole lot of hype surrounding it which is always hard to live up to, no matter how good a restaurant is, but it's easily worth checking out. The service on the night I went was impeccable and genuinely warm, the cocktails were brilliant as a pre-dinner warm-up, and the food was the best Thai I've had in Sydney, hands-down. The duck curry, pork belly with chilli jam and stir fried crispy tofu were all amazing. The servings are really generous, so though the dishes are expensive, they're good for sharing, and you don't have to order nearly as many as you think.
