Spider Contracting is a family owned business based in Bilpin in the Hawkesbury District, and operating for over 40 years. We focus primarily on the mechanical control of noxious or overgrown vegetation in many situations, including track side, asset protection for bush fire, power line easements, access tracks in forests, and weed and fire hazard control in acreages. We are also able to clear water ways of weeds and debris with our sieve buckets, as well as using other buckets where necessary. We own a fleet of new and unique machinery designed specifically for the purpose, including the Menzi Muck spider type excavator from Switerland which is on 4 legs with rubber wheels, the Rayco Forest Crawler on steel tracks from the USA and the Positrack forest mulcher on rubber tracks.

We employ a team of dedicated and experienced operators. Great emphasis is placed upon competent operators, pride of workmanship, training, risk identification and minimisation, safety and best possible commercial practices. Our machinery is designed to provide minimum impact on the environment. By leaving the roots in the ground, this prevents erosion which is of prime importance in environmentally sensitive areas such as waterways, creeks (riparian areas), steep slopes and areas where a minimum footprint is desired. Vegetation which is mulched is left on the ground which aids in slowing down the flow of water and minimising erosion. Fire breaks are easily established or re-established and access tracks to utility assets such as power lines and gas easements are easily maintained.

We are contractors to local councils, rail companies, other major environmental companies, and state government entities as well as valuing our many private customers with whom we have built a good working relationship over many years.
