Stop here for a reminder of the travellers' pub of yesteryear.
Duck under the low front door and pull up a stool at the quaint front bar for a chat and a beer with other like-mided folk.
If you happen in at night, enjoy the open fires, candle and fairy light lit outdoor dining, without a pokie in sight.

Stanley Bridge Tavern Est 1853, is your refurbished older style historic hotel, situated in the picturesque Adelaide Hills, via the Onkaparinga scenic Valley road.
An open fireplace in the olde-worlde bar area enhances the cozy ambience, and a complete absence of poker machines make this gastro-pub a great place to unwind with a quality meal, glass of fine wine, or Stanley Gourmet Platter. Candlelight adds to the intimacy and overall coziness of the restaurant dining area. The menu includes cheese and regional food platters, as well as other substantial modern Australian dishes. It's unfortunate that I my rating needs to be so low as the Stanley Bridge Hotel is actually a lovely Hills pub with a great beer garden and the majority of the staff are really good however, the attitude and customer service of the owner / manager leaves a lot to be desired. I attended a large group catch up (about 30 people) and he saw the group as a nuisance rather than an opportunity to sell the positives of the Hotel. The platters that were sent out were average.
In summer - have a wonderful, balmy experience in the beer garden. There is totem tennis for the kids, while you wait for your order. In winter, the comfortable ding room has white linen table cloths and a very pleasant ambience. The menu is straight forward, and addresses most preferences. Prices are reasonable, and the location is only a short way up the freeway - or local if you live in the hills. There is great history in the Stanley Bridge, and it is a rarity with no poker machines. Well worth the visit, will continue to bring friends and daily to this great dining experience!
