The State Library on Victoria is more than a library, although all the usual services are available.
The State Library is also features historical exhibitions, workshops and classes, children's activities and more.

You can spend hours in this magnificent building without picking up a book. Apart from the obvious services, the library houses a number of galleries displaying a range of treasures including texts, images and historical artefacts such as Ned Kelly’s armour, plus art and photographic exhibitions. Open seven days and longggg hours. This awesome (non borrowing) library is close to public transport (forget driving, even on week ends as car parking is limited). But being the State Library, you name the publication and if they do not have then it was never published. Every magaizine, journal, newspaper and text
It's so good! All the exhibits are really interesting, and if you're a resident, there are so many great Australian classics and unknowns to be requested from the stacks. Get curious about something and explore it at the library in one of the beautiful reading rooms. I also really like that there's a dedicated chess room.
