Dating back to 1863, the historic Steam Packet is a hidden gem just off the main cafe precinct in Nelson Place. The building remains true to form with masses of bluestone behind the bar, and genuine pub feel.
The pub offers basic pub grub but is done well with very generous proportions. A large selection of beers offered by both tap and bottle and a basic wine list that offers something for everyone. Ample free street parking, baby change facilities are a bonus. With huge plasma screen TVs and 2 massive big screens, and FOXTEL, makes for a great day in watching your favorite sport and catching up with friends.
The service is relaxed, and the staff are friendly.

Okay, while the Steampacket isn't one of my favourite pubs, it has served me well in the past, namely because it turned out to be one of those places where I could sit down with a beer and watch the footy. Okay, it isn't a hugely fantastic pub, but it does have some decent beers on tap. While it isn't a place that I would go out of my way to visit again, it does serve its purpose and serves its purpose well.
