I paid my deposit 10/9/15. The rep told me it was a year process. I signed my papers November 2015. He again told me it was a year process - "you'll be in your own home by this time next year!"
I made my selections January 7th and 14th.
It wasn't until an angry email from me in August - 7 months later - that the foundations began. I finally had a slab by 16/9/16.... over a year since deposit. There have been huge lulls in progress, I've not been permitted direct access to the site supervisor, and my last few emails took 9 days to respond to. So many complaints on several Internet sites about poor workmanship, materials or tradies attitude. Perhaps they pay their contractors little, which may explain their volatile, surly, attitude? Contractors told of online complaints, laugh saying Every builder gets those
Contractors use vile language, some have screamed abused an aged pensioner! There seems to be a severe lack of supervision. Emails to the office are ignored what great public relations!
Incredible waste ALL paid for by owners with piles of leftover materials smashed up and sent to the dump. Properties near estates have site rubbish and worker's litter blown on to them. One estate, the dust was so bad Sterling were forced to clean neighbouring homes inside and out!
Sterling Homes, based on current evidence, would NOT make a preferred builders list.

taking far to long to build its now just over 17 months since the process began still not finished. Had first inspection, absolutely heartbreaking certainly not worth the wait. the quality of workmanship is second rate. Its going to take something special for me to change my mind if i am going to deal with them again.
