When ordering any item from this company, be aware that if the item is unsuitable, wrong size etc, you are responsible for return postage. When my wife received a cardigan set that was unsuitable, she couldn't find how to return it so phoned requesting a reply paid address, and was told by a very abrupt telephonist that "it is not our policy - you must pay for the return yourself ". They offer a 12 month's warranty, but nowhere in the catalog could I find that you must pay return postage (it may have been in the fine print and I missed it)

Hi I have been shopping with this company for years, service and return policy is outstanding if your wife ordered the wrong size then its your responsibility to pay postage. From alot things I have returned if they are faulty or wrong size error from them they hve paid the postage. They do have beautiful things at reasonable prices and always give free gifts with purchases.. sorry but I feel like you did not give them a fair go.. cheers
I too, am disenchanted with Sterling. I got my catalogue and had to pay for postage etc which I realize is my responsibility. However I do object when I get an invoice and find an extra $10.00 added. It seems that I got an old catalogue [not my fault] so the item I ordered had gone up in cost and now I have to wear that cost. Not once did this company contact me to enquire if it was alright to add the extra cost to my credit card. Also there is still two ordered items outstanding and I will have to wait up to 6 weeks for them.
I tried to ring this company 3 times. When I finally got to talk to a real person and told them of my concerns they were not at all sympathetic so when I told them I would not deal with them again their response was "ok fine". Also with attitude. They are not necessarily a cheaper option. I will NOT shop with them again. Not a satisfactory or happy experience unfortunately.
As a follow on from my comment above I finally got a second part of my order today which was from my order placed way back in April of this year ['09]. However it was missing the "free" see through storage containers that was the enticer to place an order. There was NO apology or explanation letter. So again I had to ring Sydney from my home in Queensland. I got the same recorded message with instructions to push this button or push that button before I got someone with attitude. When I asked why my order was not complete I was told the containers were no longer available. Still no apology and they sounded miffed when I asked for the next "free" whatever to be sent. I think this company is a disgrace and rely on people not making a "fuss" but when I have had to wait for something that was ordered 3 months ago I feel I am entitled to make a fuss. Here it is September 13th and I am STILL waiting for the 2 items that I ordered way back in MAY of this year. That is 5 months of crap from this company. I got a letter about 2 weeks ago saying that they were out of stock [still] and were waiting for more supplies to come into the country and I should [?] get my order in another 3 to 6 weeks. I mean, c'mon what the hell is this company on? What is that about when I have to wait 5 months for some lousy bloody clothes.
I really strongly advise any one contemplating an order from this company to do an about face and run as fast and as far away from STERLING MAIL ORDER as you can possibly get.
Nothing but headaches and attitude from these people.
