I have to admit that I really like the concept behind this place, namely teaching street kids skills so that they might be able to get a decent paying job. One thing you should be prepared for is for them to occassionally stuff up your order, but the thing is that they do happen to be in training so you can’t expect them to always make the perfect cup of coffee. Mind you, I don’t actually come here for my morning cup of tea, but that is because the chain stores actually do a reasonable job of giving me what I want. However, these guys do make a decent coffee, and the fact they there is always a crowd here in the morning is a testament to that.
Streat moved in to this oft changing location a little while ago & they have done a great job of updating the decor. The place is fresh, airy, friendly & cool, a lot like the service you get at Streat! Streat is also a cafe with a conscious & a purpose - helping marginalised young people make positive change in their lives. They do this by operating a number of successful hospitality businesses and using the profits to fund a range of training and life skills programs. The coffee here is great, made exactly how you want it. I was shocked to see a 30c charge for a take away cup (???) but hey, good cause!
I ordered a soy hot chocolate here, and it wasn't at all good. Apart from the friendly service and cleanliness, this place isn't that great. I wouldn't go back to get another drink. If you're pedantic about your coffee, then this isn't the right place. Either that, or I just happen to have a bad coffee maker that day.
