Summer Hill Hotel

Yeah, this pub was actually pretty cool. It is right next to the station, which means that it has one of those perfect locations, especially if you want to jump off the train and have a drink, and attempt to avoid rush hour (if that is at all possible). The staff were pretty cool, and they even had some decent beers on tap, which is always going to impress me. Oh, and there was a nice outdoor area down the back as well, though it seemed to be more for the smokers.

Summer Hill Hotel has not ceased to disappoint since the kitchen changed hands. Just when we have forgotten how truly terrible the food is, we come back for an inedible reminder of why this is the lowlight of inner west dining. If there was a negative star rating for expensive, inedible food this place would have earned it!

Great venue. Was there last night with my mates and had a great night. Food was at its best. We ordered Monday night special schnitzels. Great value and not mention it was delicious and filling! Good range of beer on the tap as well. They have a huge outdoor area where you can a cool summer evening. Definitely a great place to spend some quality time!

Haven't been for years, has really improved, must be new owners. Finally has new comfortable furniture, looks much cleaner and more inviting. Food was good pub fare with some good specials on the chefs board. Excellent range of beers and ciders on tap (used to be really boring) including Vale Ale and Dr Pilkingtons both on tap, and really good atmosphere which was always lacking in the past. Highlight was the friendliness of the staff and their willingness to actually talk to customers. They used to have attitude and be rude which is why we avoided the place for years. Will definitely return.

Sunday Night, pub meal at the 'local', should be simple and hassle-free right?? Not our experience at the Summer Hill Hotel last night..ordered a vegetarian penne and requested that chicken be added (offered to pay extra!) but that wasn't 'in the system' so not possible. Let me be clear, they didn't want to make more money because there was not a button on their machine for extras - ok, I can live with that..it was quite nice, but I couldn't finish my meal so decided to take it home. I went to the counter and asked for a take away box (which I saw was given to a staff member earlier in the night for their leftovers)..simple request but the response was astounding - we were told that they didn't have a 'license' for that?!?! A license for supplying take away container, then told me I could ask for a 'plastic bag' at the front bar..really??
