I sooo wish I lived closer. I visit a friend at Summer Hill and always drop in to buy a Pear N Ricotta tart and Cherry Danish! I agree, the staff are always friendly and I think it's the reputation and quality of the cakes that sell themselves. Might have to go for a drive this week, missing the PnR tart and need a fix!!
I love this patisserie. Everything they sell is delicious but I would travel across Sydney for their pear and ricotta tart. If I ever took a cake into work and didn't take this there would be rioting in the office. Everyone who works there is lovely and it may look old-school from outside but their cakes, danishes and other treats are exceptional.
This lovely little old school patisserie is a definite favourite with locals. My friend put me onto the pear and ricotta tart (available in small and large) and I havent looked back. They are great to take to any kind of work morning tea or family picnic. The flavours are great, not too sweet and topped with a thin, crisp toffee coating. The mince pies are also incredible and if its savoury you want they do a great pie or sausage roll. The lady who works there is just lovely, she always remembers who you are and can tell you exactly whats going on in Summer Hill village. We were also lucky enough to meet her colleague (husband perhaps?) recently and discovered he is originally Argentinean which has influenced the types of cakes and pastries they sell. Definitely go here if you want the Summer Hill local experience and customer service the way it should be.
