Pizza and Italian fare by Rita MacaliIf you love Ladro in Fitzroy then you are going to feel right at home at this latest venture by Rita Macali, famous for her superb pizza's, and husband Giovanni Patane whose front of house service is spot on. A-ah the pizza - thin crusted, simple but flavoursome toppings - delicious! Favourites include the GTV 105 - tomato base, grilled eggplant. oozingly good mozzarella, pesto and anchovies and the popular Strada Nova pizza- mozzarella, gorgonzola, pancetta and basil. A half litre carafe of well priced wine is the perfect complement to the superb food.

Lovely family style Italian food. Scallops to start were cooked perfectly, as was the pasta that followed. Some nice wines by the glass also.
Our booking was until 8:30pm, at which time another large group booking was to arrive. Unfortunately they arrived very early, and we were advised that we needed to move to the bar. Not my first time eating at Supermaxi and definitely not my last. The food at Supermaxi is simple Italian style, offering a variety from traditional tapas such as deep fried crumbed cauliflower and skewered scallops, homemade pizza/pasta through to more stylish dishes such as baby snapper fillets. Oh, and please don't skip desserts. We were celebrating a family 40th and Rita made a croquembouche that you had to stop yourself from eating so many! Family friendly so great for kids as well as a quick dinner for 2.
